Medical Biotherapy undertakes the production, product development, research and development of sterile medical grade larvae for wound treatment known as Maggot Debridement Therapy (MDT).MDT is a type of biotherapy involving intentional introduction of live, disinfected maggots (fly larvae) into the non-healing skin and soft-tissue wound of a human or animal for the purposes of selectively cleaning out necrotic tissue (premature death of cells and living tissue) within a wound (debridement), disinfection and promotion of wound healing. The wounds that are suitable for MDT are pressure sores, leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, surgical wounds and infected wounds that have not responded to other types of debridement.
